A rip current caught all three, and first responders and helicopters searched for over two hours for the missing men. Sheriff Tommy Ford praised the efforts of the rescue workers: "The courage of the first responders was incredible." Unfortunately, these three men could only be recovered dead.
Another tragic accident occurred on Thursday: a 19-year-old man was also caught by a current and drowned. Rescue workers pulled him out of the water, but he later died in hospital.
