This is the first time since 2007 that Germany has taken part in the world's most highly regarded music competition with a German-language song.
In the public vote among the remaining five finalists, Abor & Tynna received 34.9 percent of the votes. This put them very narrowly ahead of Lyza, who received 31.1 percent of the public vote. Lyza had only been discovered for the German ESC preliminary round and the performances in the show were her first stage appearances ever.
This year, entertainer Stefan Raab was back in charge of the German preliminary round after years of absence. Just like those responsible at ARD, he has declared victory as his goal for the final on May 17 in Basel.
