Sebastian Krumbiegel, known as the singer of the Prinzen, is a passionate advocate of democracy and human rights. His clear stance makes him a popular guest on talk shows.

Sebastian Krumbiegel (58), the singer of the band Die Prinzen, is known for openly expressing his opinion. For him, getting involved is a matter of course and he is not deterred when critics say he should concentrate on his music.

Learning from the past

Krumbiegel believes that it is not only politicians and scientists who should bear responsibility, but every individual. In an interview with t-online, he emphasized: "It is important that we all take care of the world we live in." This is particularly important in Germany, where history shows how democracy and human rights have been disregarded. "When I was 15, my grandmother told me about the pogrom night of 1938 and her shame at having looked the other way. This story shaped me." Krumbiegel does not want to look away and uses his fame to raise awareness, which is why he is often invited onto talk shows.

Understanding for politicians

Despite the criticism that politicians often receive, Krumbiegel feels empathy for them. "Being a politician today is an enormous challenge," he says. "The last three years have changed the world: the war in Ukraine, the tensions in the Middle East, the rising cost of living. Many people are insecure and blame those in charge." He is concerned about the increase in AfD protest voters and their "misanthropic" rhetoric. "We have to defend ourselves against this," he explains. "The older I get, the more radical I become - in the original sense of the word," he recently told Die Zeit. "At the same time, you become more reasonable and realize that there are no simple solutions."
