Around 35,000 music fans have visited the Zermatt Unplugged music festival in the Valais municipality over the past five days. "We had more guests than ever before," Managing Director Rolf Furrer was quoted as saying in a press release.

One of the 130 concerts at the festival was that of Scottish musician Amy Macdonald ("This Is the Life", "Mr Rock & Roll"). She celebrated her comeback at the foot of the Matterhorn, the organizers wrote in a press release on Sunday night. The singer presented premieres of her as yet unreleased album.

According to the festival organizers, Swiss chansonnier Stephan Eicher provided a surprise. He brought his writer friend Martin Suter on stage to open the festival. Together with the Swiss Orchestra and solo musicians, he created a musical reading.

Mika and UB40 create euphoria

Another highlight of the festival, which was accompanied by sunny weather, was Mika, according to the organizers. The author of "Grace Kelly" and "Take It Easy" almost drove the audience to ecstasy. UB40 triggered a similar euphoria. The British reggae band has been around since 1978, so the audience was probably very familiar with the song "Red Red Wine", which had them in stitches.

Zermatt Unplugged is primarily a festival for acoustic concerts and singer-songwriter music. In the evening, DJs provide danceable beats and vibrant sound. Last year, 30,000 people attended the event. The next edition in the Valais municipality will take place from April 7 to 11, 2026, according to the press release.
