The plans of the new chief conductor Markus Poschner, born in Munich in 1971, are already well advanced. He will introduce himself in his first season with five major concerts and special programs such as public rehearsals. The highlight will be the special anniversary concert with Mahler's 3rd Symphony on June 11, 2026.

Poschner's agenda is well filled. He will relinquish his position as chief conductor of the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana after the current season. However, in addition to his work as principal conductor in Basel and his guest appearances, he will also lead the Bruckner Orchestra in Linz for another year. From 2026, he will also become Chief Conductor of the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra in Vienna, before taking up the post of Music Director of the Utah Symphony Orchestra in the USA from 2027.
