US actor Bill Cobbs, who appeared in almost 200 film and television productions during his long career, has died. He died on Wednesday night in the Inland Empire in Southern California surrounded by his family, his spokesman Chuck Jones told the German Press Agency. Cobbs was 90 years old.
He starred alongside Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner in the hit romance "Bodyguard" (1992). In it, he played the manager of pop singer Rachel Marron (Houston). In the comedy "Night at the Museum" (2006) and in the sequel "Night at the Museum: The Mysterious Tomb" (2014), he played the night watchman Reginald alongside Ben Stiller.
Following theater appearances in the early 1970s, Cobbs landed his first small film role in the thriller "Stop the Death Ride of Subway 123" (1974). This was followed by roles in films such as "Silkwood", "Demolition Man", "Hudsucker" and "The Fantastic World of Oz". He has also appeared in numerous television productions and was honored with a Daytime Emmy Award in 2020 for his performance in the children's series "Dino Dana".
