After winning "Sing It Your Way" 2021, dialect musician Andryy can now hope to win an award at the Swiss Music Awards. "I've never been nominated for anything before," he says happily.
Many people dream of turning their passion into a career. For pop musician Andryy, this dream has come true. In February 2021, he was in the final of "Sing It Your Way" - and went home with the winner's cheque of 10,000 francs.
With the win came more attention. And a nomination at the Swiss Music Awards 2023 shows that his hard work is paying off. The coveted awards will be presented on 17 May - voting starts in mid-April.
The Winterthur native reacts to his nomination in a short interview.
How did you find out about your nomination?
I was surprised by my team!
How excited are you about the SMAs?
I'm really looking forward to this event. I've never been nominated for anything before, so I feel all the more honored to have this opportunity. I attended as a guest last year and found it very entertaining. The crème de la crème of the Swiss music scene and me at the same table, that was really nice.
Who did you tell first?
My mother. I told her that a nomination was possible and since then she's asked me pretty much every day if I knew anything. When she got the news, she was of course incredibly happy.
What does this mean for your career?
I do think that the nomination and a possible win will help me to make my music better known. But a stone like this would also look good on your CV and is a shot across the bows for questions like "Don't you want to do something real?".
What are your long-term goals in the music industry?
I want to make music that inspires me and reflects my emotional world. But what I enjoy most are the live shows. Everything comes together in live music: the songs, the energy, the light and of course the fans.
When people sing along to my songs, I always get goosebumps. By the way, the next opportunity to be part of one of my live shows is on April 14 at Mascotte Zurich.
And how did you celebrate the nomination?
I haven't had any big celebrations yet. I just had a reward beer in the evening.
