Who are the best musicians and singers in Switzerland? The coveted concrete cubes were awarded at the Swiss Music Awards in Zug on Wednesday evening. And these are the winners.
No time? blue News summarizes for you
- The Swiss Music Awards (SMA) took place for the 16th time in Zug on Wednesday.
- Sina from Valais and Zian from Basel were honored in the Best Act category.
- The "Sing It Your Way" winner Andryy came out on top in the SRF Best Talent category.
- Hecht from Lucerne awarded Best Band.
Yesterday evening it was that time again: Switzerland chose its best musical talents at the Swiss Music Awards and presented the country's most popular concrete cubes.
One of the big winners of the evening was Andryy.
The dialect artist from Winterthur came out on top in the "SRF Best Talent" category against the Biel singer Dana and the Ticino Italo disco act Valentino Vivace.
Andryy surprised by his victory
There have been many stones in his path in his life, "this is the most beautiful one", he said in his acceptance speech with his first cobblestone in his hand.
The Swiss winners
Best Female Act: Sina
Best Male Act: Zian
Best Group: Hecht
Best Breaking Act: Marius Bear
Best Live Act: Büetzer Buebe
SRF 3 Best Talent: Andryy
Best Act Romandie: KT Gorique
Best Album: Megawatt with "Felsafescht"
Artist Award: To Athena
Best Hit: L Loko X Drini "Will Nomeh"
He tells blue News, visibly surprised: "In my head I already knew I had a chance, but emotionally I didn't know how it would turn out."
Two years ago in February, the 29-year-old won blue Zoom's music show "Sing It Your Way".
When asked what it's like to win his second big prize, he says: "It feels mega great, it's another step forward."
Sina prevails against Loredana
But Andryy wasn't the only one to surprise at the Swiss Music Awards. The Valais singer Sina won in the "Best Female Act" category.
She came out on top against the rapper - and favorite for the prize - Loredana. Sina expressed her gratitude with a "huge thank you" and congratulated her fellow nominees.
The award for best artist went to multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Zian. A respectable achievement for the 29-year-old Basel native with the big hymns, who only released his debut album in 2022.
There was also a surprise in the "Best Live Act" category: instead of the Lucerne band Hecht, dialect musicians Trauffer and Gölä alias Büetzer Buebe were announced as the winners.
The Lucerne musicians, who were nominated three times, won the award for best band.
Biggest laugh of the evening
One person unintentionally provided the biggest laugh at the Swiss Music Awards: last year's ESC participant Marius Bear. He was presented with a trophy for "Best Breaking Act". He probably hadn't expected that at all.
Because on his way onto the stage, Bear first had to pull up his pants and close his fly. "I didn't expect that," he jokes in his speech.
In the most prestigious category, Best Hit, L Loko x Drini came out on top with the song "Will Nomeh". The Zurich dialect rap duo received the most votes in the live voting at the end of the Swiss Music Awards.
Harry Styles also wins - but didn't make it
The international winners
Best Solo Act International: Harry Styles
Best Group International: Rammstein
Best Breaking Act International: Rosalia
Best Hit International: Harry Styles with "As It Was"
As usual, four prizes went to Switzerland. However, as usual, none of the international winners appeared in Zug.
Mega star Harry Styles received two prizes. He was named "Best Solo Act International" and received the Swiss Music Award for "Best Hit International".
Styles is not too far away from Zug at the moment. The Brit is currently on tour in Munich. However, it was obviously not enough for a trip to the award show.
