A court in Los Angeles has rejected an application by singer Cher to have her adult son Elijah Blue Allman placed under guardianship.

Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui of the Los Angeles Superior Court stated that she was not convinced that a guardianship was urgently needed.

Cher believes her son is endangering his life

77-year-old Cher stated in court that her son Elijah Blue Allman was unable to manage his money due to his addiction problems and mental condition.

It could put his life in danger if the 47-year-old continues to have the opportunity to buy drugs. Allman receives money from a trust left by his late father, the musician Gregg Allman.

However, the verdict is not final. Another hearing is scheduled for next March to determine whether long-term legal representation will be ordered for Cher's son instead of short-term representation.

Elijah Blue Allman admits to addiction problems

Singer Cher joined the hearing and could be seen on a large screen in the courtroom. Allman was in the courtroom with his lawyers. He admitted that he was struggling with addiction problems and irresponsible buying behavior.

However, he said he was undergoing medical treatment, had been sober for more than three months, was attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and had reconciled with his wife, from whom he had previously been estranged.

"He has a lot of support, he's doing well," Allman's lawyer said outside the courthouse after the hearing.

Cher's lawyers argued that this support came from people who told him what he wanted to hear and downplayed the extent of his problems. Allman suffers from bipolar disorder.
