After the Büetzer Buebe concerts in Zurich's Letzigrund, Trauffer fell into a hole. The film "Between Crisis and Triumph" shows how he dealt with it - and what makes him a special figure.
No time? blue News summarizes for you
- Trauffer is one of Switzerland's most successful musicians.
- Together with Gölä, he played twice under the name Büetzer Buebe in front of tens of thousands of fans at Zurich's Letzigrund in the summer of 2022.
- After achieving a life goal, the 43-year-old was left with a sense of emptiness: what's next? A new TV documentary tells Trauffer's life story.
The public can do many things to Marc Trauffer.
They can love him or despise him for his ethnic dialect pop rock. They can love him for his use of rural clichés or find him stupid. And they may or may not go along with his après-ski atmosphere at concerts.
But there is one thing they can and should never do - underestimate Trauffer. Because unlike other fellow musicians, the 43-year-old from Bern is the opposite of a dreamer.
He is a self-confident, clear-thinking doer who has both feet firmly on the ground. Someone who successfully runs a company and a hotel, and is also a chart-topper and stage star.
Last but not least, Trauffer is also someone who knows how to assess himself and is open about his weaknesses and doubts.
Trauffer's low after the two Letzigrund concerts
The singer experienced such a low after the huge success of his Büetzer Buebe project with dialect rocker Gölä.
Together, the two filled the Letzigrund Stadium for two evenings and thrilled over 80,000 fans. Trauffer looks back on this mega event with nostalgia: "I'm attached to the Büetzer Buebe in my head and in my heart."
But as is so often the case after achieving a great goal in life, Trauffer was left feeling empty: Was that it? Do people still want to see me as a solo artist, or will they again? Do I have enough energy?
These and other questions pushed the successful man to his limits, as the new documentary "Trauffer - between crisis and triumph" shows, which can be seen from today, April 26, on the streaming channel One Plus.
How did he ultimately overcome his doubts?
Typical Trauffer - he forged ahead. After all, the songs from his album "Glöggele", which was recorded during the pandemic, want to be performed on stage; and the film devotes a large part of its running time to rehearsals and planning the show for the new album.
The guitarist and singer shows himself to be the undisputed boss on the stage. A frontman who has a clear opinion - and who is not afraid to stand on his hind legs and defend it vehemently.
Company boss, hotelier and pop star Trauffer
In fact, it is astonishing how little the company boss, hotelier and pop star Trauffer differ. The 43-year-old is always the boss, he always sets the tone. And he can certainly get a little louder.
If there are problems with the supply chain for his wooden cows in the toy business, the entrepreneur bangs on the table - just like the band leader when one of the new songs doesn't really get off the ground.
And if the stage rehearsal is a mess, the planner and concept developer can make it quite clear to his stagehands that he is not in the mood for a sick band just before a performance.
He is "absolutely obsessed with detail", says Zermatt hotelier friend Paul-Marc Julen about him in the film. And hints that it is probably not always easy to work under Trauffer's leadership.
Trauffer has bossy traits, but is no dictator
Ultimately, his success proves him right. Marc Trauffer may have certain bossy traits, but he is not a dictator. There is a family-like, positive atmosphere in his band.
And as the host at the Trauffer-Erlebnishotel in Hofstetten, he is also a charismatic host who cares about the well-being of guests and employees alike.
This also includes his wife Brigitte. It is significant that she is also the first to describe her husband with attributes such as "ambitious" or as "someone who gets stuck in".
But the scenes in which the successful business couple drink a glass of wine or take a walk through the snow also show other sides of the doer type.
These are rare moments in an enormously varied and busy life that give Trauffer the energy he needs for his stage appearances. The film "Between Crisis and Triumph" also ends with one of these. In front of a sold-out audience - how could it be otherwise?
The documentary "Trauffer - between crisis and triumph" will be shown from today, Wednesday, April 26, on the streaming channel One Plus.
