The boy band *NSYNC has been quiet for more than 20 years. But now something is stirring. Just a few days ago, the band caused a sensation at the MTV Video Music Awards. Now a new track follows.

The five musicians of the former US boy band *NSYNC around superstar Justin Timberlake have recorded a song together again after more than 20 years. A sample of the song "Better Place" can be heard in the trailer for the third part of the "Trolls" animated film series.

The video was posted online by Studio Universal. "Trolls - Strong Together" will be released in German cinemas on October 19.

Timberlake and Anna Kendrick are back on board with their voices for the popular Trolls characters Poppy and Branch.

After 20 years together

Timberlake and his *NSYNC colleagues Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and JC Chasez caused a sensation at the MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday night. They presented the trophy in the "Pop Song" category to winner Taylor Swift. She was visibly moved and outed herself as a big fan of the band. However, there was no sample of the old *NSYNC hits such as "I Want You Back", "Gone" or "Bye, Bye, Bye". The group had disbanded in 2002 and has not recorded any more music to date.

However, the appearance of the cult band at the awards ceremony had fueled rumors about a possible return of the musicians to the recording studio. But nothing more than the song "Better Place" is to be expected. Universal told the "Today Show" on NBC that this is the only new song by the five musicians for the Trolls film. The original film about the musical Trolls with their colorful hair and googly eyes grossed around 340 million dollars worldwide in 2016.
