We'll be calling it a day soon
Sportfreunde Stiller are currently playing their last song, earlier Luca Hänni was still giving his best. The party at Gampel is still in full swing, but we're still mingling with the crowd.
You can still find the best pictures from the festival in our gallery. We say goodbye to this ticker and thank you for your attention.

Folk music at the festival
While other festivals such as the Open Air Frauenfeld or the Greenfield Festival focus on one type of music, Gampel is all about diversity. Here, metal meets hip-hop meets pop meets folk music.
Because the start of Sunday is all about traditional Swiss sounds. On the small stage, Oesch's die Dritten attracted the biggest crowd of any opening act to date.
Frontwoman Melanie was particularly pleased with the audience, which was quite lively for the early time of day. "I love the way you whoop and yodel," praised the singer.
Even with dialect singer Kunz in front of the main stage, it already looks like he's a headliner. So the love of Swiss music is writ large here.

One last time
The fact that the Gampel Open Air is Switzerland's party festival is also evident on Sunday morning. Not because it's time to party again. But because there is a distinctly hangover mood on the campsite.
Sleepy faces peer out of half-collapsed tents, the festival site itself is completely empty. One or two beers can already be seen again.
Today, Sunday, the line-up is a little more relaxed. It starts at 11:0 with Oesch's die Dritten. Afterwards, Luca Hänni and Sportfreunde Stiller will also be on stage. These two can also be streamed live on blue Music. All information can be found here.

Open air can be so beautiful
In the light of the setting sun, you realize once again how special the location of the Gampel Open Air actually is.
Surrounded by breathtaking mountain and forest scenery, the music simply seems even better. But while the atmosphere in the evening light seems almost idyllic at first glance, things are anything but quiet at Gampel.
In front of the stage with the punk rock band Itchy or in one of the many festival tents, people party like there's no tomorrow on Saturday evening.

Enough with the rain at some point
While Annie Taylor brings the audience in front of the main stage out of their midday lethargy, you can slowly see more and more of the sky. And then it happened: the sun finally shone on the Gampel Open Air once again.
So rubber boots are quickly swapped for parasols. And let's be honest: you always make the best of it. But sun always makes a festival better.

Adilettes instead of wellies
We've arrived back at the site and there's no sign of the mud anymore. The ground is dry again, the sky is still cloudy, but there is no more rain.
Good prospects for a relaxed festival Saturday.
Yesterday we set off to see what footwear the Gampel fans were wearing. The impressions can be found in our gallery.

The wildest concert of the summer?
It's an unspoken truth at the Gampel Open Air: bands often have a hard time here. There is too much competition from the numerous festival tents.
But those who display as much energy as the metal band Fever 333 don't let that stop them. Although only a few spectators found their way to the main stage at first, the US rockers immediately took the stage apart - and not just in the figurative sense.
It felt like three microphones, two stands and the entire drum platform fell victim to the trio around singer Jason Butler.
In the end, Butler climbed onto the scaffolding of the nearby Bock Bar and jumped into the audience from a height of three meters. Fortunately, his fans were on hand to catch the metal singer.
It will be difficult for the other bands to top this performance in terms of energy. And the metalheads proved one more thing: you won't find a show like this in any marquee.

Finally dry!
Another weather update from Valais: it has rained off. The sun still hasn't made an appearance, but we were able to say goodbye to the rain parkas.
This also benefited the concerts. Lucerne rapper Lcone in particular was able to mobilize an extremely large crowd for his early slot.
Newcomer Andryy also created a good atmosphere with his Swiss-German songs. The Gampel goers proved once again that they can sing.

The rain leaves its mark
We are back on the site and the constant rain since the early morning has unfortunately left its mark.
The site is turning more and more from the Gampel Open Air into a muddy open air. But don't panic: You can see far more wellies and rain parkas on the campsite compared to yesterday. So the audience seems to be well prepared - although you don't usually see pictures like this at Gampel.
And: in some places, the grass is still holding up well. The campsite in particular was fortunately spared most of the mud.
The weather is expected to improve again from 14:00. And experienced festival-goers know that there's not much going on before then anyway.

The night is going to be a wet one even without rain
Night has now fallen at Gampel. But before it got dark, the sun came out once again and created a wonderful light spectacle on the mountains.
Even though the rain has stopped, the atmosphere at the open air is still cheerful. The shock rappers from K.I.Z. finally got the audience out of their rainy lethargy and provided the first really wild crowd moments at Gampel.
Moshpits and wall of deaths - the main thing was wild. The Berliners were the best band to really get the party night in Valais rolling.

Rain? What rain?
The bad weather still has the Gampel Open Air firmly in its grip. And here it pays off that Gampel is the Swiss festival with the highest number of marquees.
At the moment, open-air visitors are mainly seeking shelter from the weather in one of the many bars. But you can party just as well there as in front of the main stage. From Goa to Schlager - every style of music is represented.
And many festival fans carry on as if nothing had happened. Whether it's Beerpong in the pouring rain or mosh pits with punk rock rapper Sueco in front of the main stage: Gampel doesn't let a few drops of rain get it down.
And: on the horizon, you can slowly see the blue sky between the clouds again.

It not only gets loud, but also wet
Gampel visitors are not used to this. It started to rain in the late afternoon. A rare sight at the Valais festival.
But while the drops quickly cause panic at other festivals, people take the cooling off at Gampel in their stride. Rain jackets were few and far between, even half an hour after the rain started.
In the meantime, however, even hardened Gampel fans have equipped themselves - with garbage bags, among other things. Necessity is the mother of invention.

The wait will be worth it
It's currently a pleasant 21 degrees in Gampel. The sky is cloudy, but it is still reasonably dry.
However, the conditions are actually perfect for the start of the Open Air. This is because many spectators first spend their time queuing to exchange their wristbands. And that would be a bit more strenuous in the blazing sun.

It's still relatively quiet here
We have arrived at the Gampel Open Air and are enjoying the fresh Valais air.
It's about to get really loud here. Concerts by music greats such as Sido, K.I.Z. and Nothing but Thieves are already scheduled for today.
Here in the ticker you will find photos, impressions of the atmosphere and reports on the experience.
