Camping is not possible on the Gurten this year. The question remains: where will all the people who visit the Gurtenfestival sleep? We asked the audience.
No time? blue News summarizes for you
- The Gurtenfestival in Bern is taking place for the 40th time from July 12 to 16.
- This year, camping on Bern's local mountain is not possible.
- Visitors know how to help themselves and above all see the advantages of the new regulations.
For many music fans, sleeping in a tent is as much a part of the open-air experience as a mud bath after an intense day of rain. However, camping on the Gurten has recently become less and less popular. As a result, this year's offer has been dispensed with altogether.
"No problem" for locals
Our survey on the local mountain shows why camping is being used less and less: many - very many - festival-goers are from Bern and live not far from the site. Once again, the Gurtenfestival lives up to its reputation as a big festival for locals.
What's more, many see the advantages of staying overnight in their own four walls. The peace and quiet, the toilet and the frequent showers - anyone who has ever tried to stay reasonably clean at an open air festival will find these arguments for sleeping at home unsurprising. But other experiences from the past also come into play. "At least at home no one can run into your tent when it's full of poop," says one visitor.
Eichholz - or "simply in the forest"
And who is not from Bern? In addition to Airbnb and sleeping with colleagues, the name "Eichholz" comes to mind. The picturesque campsite on the River Aare is the plan B for anyone who misses camping on the Gurten. And then there's this hot tip: "Just find a nice spot in the forest." Yes, why not?
