Her partner is almost 40 years younger than her. For good reasons, as Cher has now revealed. In a TV interview, the singer also explains why she once refused to meet Elvis Presley for a date.

  • Finding the right date at 77 as a woman? Not so easy, claims singer Cher in a TV interview.
  • In the latest episode of the "Jennifer Hudson Show", the artist explains that she is very shy in her private life. And somehow also shy towards men.
  • Cher amazed TV host Jennifer Hudson even more with another story: Cher is said to have once turned Elvis Presley down.

For Cher, men her age are not possible romantic partners - because they no longer exist.

During an appearance on the "Jennifer Hudson Show", the 77-year-old singer explains why she tends to look for romantic partners who are younger than she is.

"The reason I'm with young men is because men who are my age or older - well, they're all dead by now," says Cher.

Cher: "I don't care what anyone thinks"

But that doesn't seem to be her only problem with the men of her generation: "They used to be afraid to come near me, and younger men were the only ones who ..."

"They're brave," host Jennifer Hudson interrupts her. "Yes, they were raised by women like me," Cher agrees.

The singer doesn't want anyone to tell her not to date younger men either.

She rejected criticism of her relationship with 38-year-old Def Jam manager Alexander "AE" Edwards on Twitter in 2022: "Don't you have anything better to do?" she asked at the time, only to state: "I don't care what anyone thinks."

Cher once turned Elvis down

Cher also shows self-confidence when dealing with another music icon. Jennifer Hudson wants to know whether Cher once actually turned Elvis Presley (1935 to 1977) down.

"It was because I was just nervous and I knew the people around him," says the singer, seeming to confirm the story.

"And it wasn't that they were bad people, it was just that I was kind of nervous about his reputation. I'm really shy when I'm not working, and kind of shy around men."

Cher also said she was nervous about starring in a movie with Meryl Streep. "I wanted to do a movie with her, and I packed my bag, and then I started unpacking it, and my sister kept packing it. I said, 'I can't do a movie with Meryl Streep, okay?"

When she arrived on the set of "Silkwood" (1983), the nervousness vanished immediately. Meryl Streep put her arms around her and said: "I'm so glad you're here. And from then on, we were like joined at the hip."
