According to the report, neighbors had called the police after hearing screams coming from the apartment. The officers were met at the scene by the former lover, who allowed herself to be arrested without resistance.
The lifeless body of Juri Reetz was then found in the apartment, showing various stab wounds and cuts. The woman has since been released.
A spokesperson for the Berlin public prosecutor's office told the "Bild" newspaper: "The accused was released because, according to the state of the investigation so far, a self-defense situation cannot be ruled out and therefore there is no urgent suspicion of a crime."
