Charlène of Monaco has been wearing white a lot lately. As hardly anything is left to chance when it comes to royal wardrobes, it's worth taking a closer look at the choice.

No time? blue News summarizes for you

  • Charlène of Monaco appeared in numerous white outfits in 2025.
  • It is no coincidence that she wears white at events of great national importance, such as Monaco's National Day.
  • The major fashion houses are also currently focusing on the non-color.

On November 19, Monaco's National Day, the Princess once again made a statement in her preferred white. At the mass in the Notre-Dame-Immaculée cathedral, she appeared alongside the princely family in an all-over white look by Armani - the house that stands for clear lines and timeless elegance like no other.

The combination of flared trousers, a fitted long blazer with structured shoulders and a flared blouse was rounded off with a matching fascinator and pointed pumps.

On the same day, the wife of Prince Albert II opted for a long, glittering dress in off-white, which she accessorized with the tiara made of eleven teardrop-shaped diamonds that she wore on her wedding day.

She also recently caused a stir at the Ballon d'Or when she captivated the photographers in a simple white halterneck dress by Elie Saab.

White instead of black for the Pope

Her much-discussed appearances also include a flawless ensemble that she wore at the inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV: a white dress combined with a veil of fine lace. The protocol for women at papal audiences actually prescribes a long black dress with long sleeves and a mantilla.

However, Charlène did not break any rules: as a Catholic princess, she has the so-called "Privilège du Blanc", which allows her to wear the color that is considered a symbol of peace and solidarity with Catholic tradition.

White also has a patriotic meaning: it is one of the two colors of the Monegasque flag. For this reason, the Princess often chooses to wear it on occasions of national importance, such as November 19 - just like the color red.

White as a counter-trend

Charlène relies on her favorite color - and this will also dominate the fashion world in spring/summer 2026 - the fashion houses seem to agree on this point for spring/summer 2026. Numerous designers - from Ralph Lauren to Adam Lippes - showed flawless, all-white silhouettes, occasionally accentuated by black. This strong return of non-color is by no means accidental: it could mark the beginning of a more thoughtful era in fashion, far removed from the flashy effects that have dominated in recent years.

There is a trend towards "less is more": Neutral shades are everywhere, the search for "emotional calm" is gaining ground and attention is shifting to the essentials: Fit, material quality, durability, timelessness.

Charlène's pronounced preference for the color white fits perfectly into this picture: a simple choice that underlines the feeling of serenity and elegant distance she exudes - and at the same time harmonizes perfectly with current aesthetic trends.
