It only took seven minutes on Wednesday for all the tickets for the live shows of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) to be gone. And the preview shows were gone within twenty minutes.

A total of 42,000 tickets were sold in the first wave, the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG) announced on Wednesday.

The chance to be there live at the ESC 2025 in Basel remains, it added. Those who were unable to get a ticket but have registered could be successful in the coming months. Those responsible promised further waves of sales.

Those responsible explained that sales on Wednesday went smoothly. The fact that the sale of the first wave went so quickly shows the anticipation for this year's event in Basel. "And it shows how the ESC builds bridges between cultures and connects hearts," Reto Peritz and Moritz Stadler, the two executive producers of ESC 2025, were quoted as saying.
