At the request of Keystone-SDA, the editors of the "Freiburger Nachrichten" confirmed receipt of the obituary. The medium had previously reported on the death on its news portal.

Jutzet was a member of the National Council from 1995 to 2007. Among other things, he chaired the Foreign Affairs Committee. He was also a member of the Legal Affairs Committee.

In 1985, he was defeated by lawyer Pierre Corboz in the third round of the election of cantonal judges, as can be seen on the canton's website. This defeat was the starting point for an initiative for the election of judges by the people, which was rejected in 1989. The Fribourg native was appointed substitute judge at the cantonal court and the federal court.

In 1981, he ran unsuccessfully for the office of chief judge of the Sense district. In the same year, he was elected to the Grand Council as a member of this district, where he served until 1995. There, he campaigned for German and French to be recognized as official languages with equal rights. His motion led to the revision of the language article in the cantonal constitution (1990). From 1988 to 1994 he was leader of the SP parliamentary group, and in 1995 he presided over the Grand Council.

In 2006, he was elected to the State Council and took over the Security and Justice Directorate. He was President of the State Council in 2011 and resigned from the State Council in 2016.

Jutzet was born in Fribourg on May 7, 1951 and studied law at the University of Fribourg. He was married and has four children, according to the cantonal website.
