Grace Jones is coming to Montreux for the Jazz Festival (4.7.-19.7.). The dazzling singer from Jamaica is standing in for rapper Laylow, who has canceled his tour.

"Avant-garde singer, fashion icon, Warhol muse and devilish Bond girl: Grace Jones' life is a total work of art," wrote the Montreux Jazz Festival in a statement on Tuesday. Jones released her first album in 1977. She made a name for herself internationally with songs such as "Slave to the Rhythm" and "Pull Up to the Bumper".

The singer, actress and performance artist is a guest at Montreux for the fourth time, the last time being eight years ago. She is expected to perform a new concert on the lake stage on July 12.

After the French rapper Laylow canceled his tour a week ago - with the argument that he wanted to concentrate on his new album - the Montreux Jazz Festival had to look for an alternative. But those responsible did not simply want to replace Laylow.

They rethought the concept of the entire concert evening on the lake stage, on which the French singer-songwriter Yseult will perform, as they wrote in their press release. Now, with 30-year-old Yseult and 70-year-old Grace Jones, the evening unites two generations of female artists with the same "penchant for transcending codes and musical genres".
