Singer Helene Fischer originally wanted to follow in the footsteps of many big music stars who let Netflix take a look at their cards. But the deal fell through - according to the streaming service, no agreement was reached.
From 2022, Helene Fischer (40) was followed by cameras working on a major documentary about the singer ('Atemlos durch die Nacht') on behalf of Netflix. This is said to have already been completed, but we won't get to see it. The pop superstar is said to have backed out.
Documentary had already been shot
Bild' first reported on the documentary a year ago and probably already knew the details of the project, which had been kept strictly under wraps until then. It was supposed to be a 90-minute special, which should have been made available soon. It was supposed to be a mixture of interviews with fans, press, concertgoers, Helene's manager Uwe Kanthak and, of course, Helene Fischer herself. Live recordings would also be included. A potential step out of the exclusively German-speaking market in front of an international audience and therefore a unique opportunity. But nothing will come of it, as was also first reported by 'Bild'.
Why did Helene Fischer agree?
Apparently, Helene Fischer and Netflix were unable to agree on the final cut. There were allegedly different ideas about which recordings should be deleted and which should be streamed worldwide. There was also footage of the singer's accident at a concert in Hanover. Was the documentary a victim of Helene Fischer's efforts to keep her private life strictly under wraps? This raises the question of why there were such different ideas about what to show in the end, and why Helene Fischer agreed to be filmed behind the scenes in the first place. It was probably foreseeable that the streaming giant would not have been satisfied with a few polished, posed shots - Netflix has experience with documentaries of this kind and usually wants to show celebrities as they are not usually seen. Whether it was Prince Harry and Meghan Markle or Lady Gaga, they all allowed themselves to be seen in the flesh. Apparently Helene Fischer decided to back out after all.
