"Yes, I am," the 56-year-old told the German news agency DPA in London, revealing her ingredients for a perfect Christmas. "Oh, there are a lot of things. I sing Christmas carols. Santa Claus - Santa Claus - comes to our house to say hello to the children and me. He brings his reindeer. That's really true!"
She also loves going sledging with her children at Christmas time. "It's really fun," Carey enthused. "It's just great!" The singer often spends her Christmas vacations in the luxurious winter resort of Aspen/Colorado, a popular destination for celebrities in the USA. The singer has twins.
Records for Carey's Christmas single
Mariah Carey set several records this year with "All I Want For Christmas", when the popular Christmas hit once again reached number one in the Schwiez singles chart and the American Billboard 100. The hit has currently moved down one place to number two, behind "Last Christmas" by Wham!
The top position in Switzerland in December has for years belonged unchallenged to Mariah Carey with her Christmas hit from 1994. "All I Want For Christmas Is You" has so far spent 23 weeks at number one in the Swiss chart history - that is more than any other artist has ever managed outside of the Christmas period.
According to Carey herself, she was surprised by the success of the song. "I've always loved Christmas, but I had no idea the extent it would reach," she told dpa. "It was the first Christmas song I ever wrote. And then it just happened."
