Robert Downey Jr. as the villain

Marvel announced the new "Avengers" plans last July at the Comic-Con film convention in San Diego, California. Downey Jr. surprised fans by announcing that he would be playing the Marvel villain Doctor Doom.

Downey has played the eccentric genius Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, many times, most recently in the hit movie "Avengers: Endgame" (2019). In this film, the superhero lost his life and fans had to say goodbye to the iconic character.

In the Marvel universe, the villain Victor von Doom aka Doctor Doom is an arch-enemy of the superhero quartet Fantastic Four. He hides his disfigured face behind a mask and wears a green hooded cape.
