According to the report, Streep is to play a journalist who is fed up with only ever writing about the deals of the rich. But then she uncovers corrupt machinations in the sale of a luxury penthouse and finds herself in danger.
The film is directed by Israeli filmmaker Joseph Cedar (57), who was nominated for a foreign Oscar for his previous films "Beaufort" and "Footnote". In 2017, he brought Richard Gere in front of the camera for the tragicomedy "Norman".
Three-time Oscar winner Streep ("Kramer vs. Kramer", "Sophie's Choice", "The Iron Lady") is currently filming the sequel to "The Devil Wears Prada", in which she plays an unscrupulous fashion boss. Weaver returns to cinemas in mid-December in "Avatar: Fire and Ash", the third installment in director James Cameron's successful "Avatar" film series.
