Folk rock star Neil Young is planning a concert in Ukraine. The European leg of his world tour will open there with a "free concert for everyone", the 79-year-old Canadian musician announced on his website. Discussions are currently underway regarding the planning.

No details of the date were initially given. The tour with his band The Chrome Hearts was previously scheduled to start with a concert on June 18 in Rättvik, Sweden. In Germany, Young will be stopping off for concerts in Berlin, Mönchengladbach and Stuttgart; no appearances have been planned for Switzerland to date.

According to the music magazine "Rolling Stone", this would be the first concert for the "Godfather of Grunge" in Ukraine. Young, who is one of the most successful musicians of his generation, has regularly spoken out in support of the country since the Russian invasion. He is also a fierce critic of Donald Trump.
