As part of Secondhand Day, Nemo is auctioning off the costume from his much-discussed performance at the Eurovision Contest in Basel in May. The proceeds will go to a good cause for the benefit of LGBTI* people.

In addition to the body-hugging outfit, the wig that Nemo wore at the ESC in Basel in May will also be auctioned off, as Seconhand Day announced on Wednesday. The forced emotional appearance at the ESC final had caused irritation. "When people come into contact with something they don't expect, they react with irritation," Nemo told the Keystone-SDA news agency in an interview in October.

The auction is taking place as part of #RicardoForGood. The proceeds will go to a good cause - namely the organization Queeramnesty, which campaigns for the rights of LGBTI* people. "I like the idea that something that is important to me can live on and mean something to someone else," Nemo is quoted as saying in the press release.

A sign against mass consumption

Passing on is the basic principle of Secondhand Day, with which the sales platform Ricardo, together with Myclimate and Circular Economy Switzerland, wants to set an example against mass consumption and its consequences, according to the press release.

Around 700 online marketplaces, second-hand stores, vintage stores and other similar institutions have taken part in special campaigns in recent years to draw attention to sustainable consumption. They can be found on the "Circular Heroes Map" platform.

The auction starts on Ricardo on October 29 with an initial bid of one franc and ends on November 8, the actual Secondhand Day.
