Cultural heritage New lighting for Lausanne Cathedral

Lausanne Cathedral has been equipped with new exterior lighting to mark its 750th anniversary. The system, which was inaugurated on Saturday, offers changing lighting moods. It is switched off at night.

The new lighting is intended to highlight the architecture of the medieval building, take account of night-time biodiversity and reduce electricity consumption by more than 60 percent, according to a statement from the city of Lausanne.

The lighting moods vary from an amber hue to a more intense warm white. The official inauguration on Saturday allowed the public to discover the new fixture.
