Zurich Airport has introduced new CT scanners to speed up security checks. From December 8, passengers will be able to leave liquids in their hand luggage on one floor for the time being.
The general ban on containers with a capacity of more than 100 milliliters will remain in place for the time being, as Zurich Airport announced on Friday. This is because only one of four floors will have been converted. As soon as all 26 control lines have been converted, containers with a capacity of up to two liters will be permitted.
Anyone arriving on floor 0 with a larger bottle will be allowed to keep it. Provided the contents do not pose a security risk. Travelers can also leave electronic devices in their hand luggage at the seven new scanners.
The conversion of the security checkpoints is being carried out in stages until summer 2026. As travelers have noticed in recent days, the work is having an impact on waiting times during ongoing operations.
