The Jura comic festival Delémont'BD is strengthening its team for the organization of its 12th edition in June. This is a reaction to the quarrels surrounding the event, which have led to the resignation of the entire team and the director.

Gaëlle Frossard and Célien Milani from Delsberg and Philippe Duvanel, a former director of the festival, have been temporarily hired to take on this challenge, the organizers announced on Thursday. The aim is to ensure the continuity of an event that was launched in 2014 and has taken place eleven times to date.

Delémont'BD is currently undergoing a major organizational transition after the chairwoman of the organizing committee, Jessy Gigandet, her two employees and the last director, Cédric Humair, left the company one after the other.

Exhaustion cited as the reason

According to the organizers, each of these people stated that they were exhausted. The situation had been exacerbated by the fact that the town of Delsberg was questioning the level of its subsidies for the event due to financial problems.

Delémont'BD nevertheless remains an "important event for the capital of the Jura", according to the festival's press release. "Known far beyond the borders, in Switzerland and abroad, it is the flagship of the cultural policy of the city and canton of Jura."

According to the press release, the schedule and the "very low level of preparation for the project" required a fast pace. And that with greatly reduced personnel resources. Nevertheless, the foundation is confident.
