László Krasznahorkai read from his works at the award ceremony as part of the Leukerbad Literature Festival. He received the Spycher: Leuk Literature Prize together with the German Alissa Walter, who was also present.
One of the conditions of the prize is that the winners can spend two months a year for five years writing in Leuk. During these stays, they also meet authors who have won awards in previous years, and they leave their mark on the Upper Valais town. This is because their literary works are stored in the Spycher in Leuk for the long term.
The literary prize has been awarded since 2001. Previous winners include authors from Switzerland and abroad, such as the German Iris Wolff (2024), the Romanian Mircea Cărtărescu (2013), who has been a contender for the Nobel Prize for Literature for years, and Lukas Bärfuss (2007) and Daniel de Roulet (2003) from Switzerland.
