We sent our Basel resident to the Lucerne carnival and gave her five tasks to complete. The result? A Huerenaff, a Fritschivater, a big party and a big but!
Unlike in Basel, carnival in Lucerne begins on "Dirty Thursday". Although it is smaller, it is said to be less strictly regulated and more exuberant.
At five o'clock in the morning on Thursday, the city is transformed into a colorful mob of wild carnival revellers with the so-called "Tagwache".
Around 300,000 revelers, many of them slightly staggering, take to the streets. The city never rests until Ash Wednesday. Joining us for the first time this year: our Basel reporter and carnival reveller Selena.
The Lucerne Carnival, also known as the "fifth season", is the biggest event for the city and Central Switzerland. Here, everyone can and should dress up to make it really colorful - an absolute no-go in Basel.
This sight set alarm bells ringing for our reporter, because in Basel this is reserved for cliques and guggen.
Find out what else shocks Selena and whether she will remain loyal to Basel Fasnacht in the video.
