The German band Kraftwerk had a lasting impact on electronic dance music. Synthpop, electro and house: Kraftwerk influenced them all. Now the band, founded in 1970, is coming to Switzerland for a concert at the end of the year.

Kraftwerk will be playing at the Festhalle in Bern on December 17, 2025, as announced by the Gadget Entertainment Group on Monday. The band, founded by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider-Esleben (1947-2020) in Düsseldorf, became famous for its musical experiments. These included the prominent use of distorted, robotic-sounding voices and the synthesizer.

Kraftwerk really took off in 1974 with the album "Autobahn", which marked the band's transition from Krautrock to electronic music. To this day, the song "Das Model", released a little later, is probably the band's best-known hit.

With the current line-up, co-founder Ralf Hütter continues to create an audiovisual experience for the live performances: in addition to the so-called "machine music", the concerts include computer animations and other videos.
