The audience celebrated the unexpected guest appearance, while May told the German Press Agency after the end of the performance that he had wanted to create a real surprise. He had not wanted to come on stage via a red carpet.

May wrote music history, composed global hits such as "We Will Rock You" and "The Show Must Go On" and was even knighted.

Queen is regarded as one of the best and most successful rock bands in the world. With their mixture of rock, opera, pop and theatricality, the musicians around singer Freddy Mercury have thrilled generations of fans worldwide. Hits such as "Another One Bites The Dust" and "We Are The Champions" have long since become epic anthems.

The Queen show is not new, having already celebrated its premiere in London in 2002. The musical has also been staged in Stuttgart - from 2008 to 2010. Now the material has been restaged, with a new script, different choreography and a younger cast.
