Colombian singer Shakira has had to cancel a concert for the fifth time on her tour of Latin America and the USA.
Now the concert in the Dominican Republic has also fallen victim to "operational problems".
Shakira had previously canceled performances in Peru, Colombia and Chile.
Colombian singer Shakira has had to cancel a concert on her tour of Latin America and the USA for the fifth time. She will not be performing as planned on April 2 at the Olympic Stadium in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, the organizers announced. The reason for this was "operational problems beyond the artist's control". A new date for the concert is to take place in September.
The Colombian has been touring South and North America since mid-February with her album "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran" ("The Women Don't Cry Anymore") and has already had to cancel and postpone concerts several times. Most recently, the two planned gigs in Chile's capital Santiago de Chile had to be canceled due to technical problems.
Series of concert cancellations
Shakira ("Hips Don't Lie", "TQG") previously had to cancel a concert in her home country because the roof had been damaged during stage construction in Medellín. Her performance in the Peruvian capital Lima in mid-February was also canceled. The singer was taken to the emergency room with severe abdominal pain.
As a result, the comments from dissatisfied fans piled up on social media. There are frequent mentions of "lack of respect" and "irresponsibility". The 48-year-old is currently in Mexico City - where one of her concerts started two hours late due to confusion about the starting time.
