The 36-year-old will be honored this year together with Kiss members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley as well as Canadian singer Alanis Morissette ("Ironic"), the organization announced.
"Taylor Swift is perhaps the most recognizable female singer-songwriter of her generation and possesses a unique talent," reads the Hall of Fame's statement on the 14-time Grammy winner. "Swift's ability to transform herself as a songwriter" is "part of her superpower as a songwriter".
Swift and a total of eight other artists will be officially inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame at a gala in New York in June. The pop singer has been writing her own songs since she was a teenager and regularly sets chart records with her albums.
The Songwriters Hall of Fame, founded in 1969, honors those "whose work represents a spectrum of the most popular songs from the songbook of worldwide pop music". Its members include and have included stars such as Cyndi Lauper, Missy Elliott, Mariah Carey, Pharrell Williams and David Bowie.
