With six nominations, the drama "The Sparrow in the Chimney" has the best chance of winning the Swiss Film Award. This was announced on Tuesday evening at the 60th Solothurn Film Festival. The film delves into the cosmos of a family in which tensions come to a head.

After "The Strange Kitten" (2013) and "The Girl and the Spider" (2021), it is the third part of the "Animal Trilogy" by twin brothers Ramon (writer, director, editor) and Silvan Zürcher (producer). The film is nominated in the main category "Best Feature Film", among others, as announced by the Federal Office of Culture at the "Night of Nominations".

"The Sparrow in the Chimney" is closely followed by the four-time nominated drama comedy "Le procès du chien" by French-Swiss filmmaker Lætitia Dosch. Also nominated four times is the documentary "E.1027 - Eileen Gray and the House by the Sea" about Irish designer Eileen Gray. "Reinas", which is no longer in the running for a foreign Oscar, was nominated three times.

The Swiss Film Award 2025 will be presented in Geneva on March 21.
