After four wins in a row, Lausanne-Sport's run came to an end at the bottom of the table. The Vaud side were only able to show their strength in form in the opening stages. FC Winterthur then grew stronger and stronger and were rewarded in the 51st minute. Fabian Frei, who moved from FCW to FC Basel 20 years ago as a junior and returned this summer, scored with a beautiful shot to secure an important victory.

Lausanne goalkeeper Karlo Letica had made two strong saves before the break. The Croatian had a slight touch on Frei's shot, but was unable to prevent the first goal after seven hours and four clean sheets.

For the time being, Winterthur have dropped bottom spot to Grasshoppers, who play St. Gallen on Sunday.
