Fribourg with seventh win in a row

Fribourg is currently unstoppable. Although Gottéron fell behind twice in their home game against Ambri-Piotta, coach Roger Rönnberg's team nevertheless celebrated their seventh win in a row with a 4-3 victory after overtime. It was even their eighth success in a row at home. Samuel Walser equalized for the hosts in the 57th minute to make it 3:3, before the Swede Lukas Wallmark was responsible for the decision after 99 seconds of overtime. Fribourg defeated Ambri in front of their home crowd for the seventh time in a row.

Bern still a force away from home

The SCL Tigers and Bern, who are fighting for a play-in spot, played out a thrilling derby that could have gone either way. The SCB ultimately had the better end, celebrating their seventh away win in a row with a 4:3 victory thanks to a goal from Benjamin Baumgartner 73 seconds before the end of overtime. In the first period, the shot ratio was 12:5 for Bern, but Langnau led 1:0 thanks to a goal by Saku Mäenalanen 39 seconds before the first intermission. The Finn increased the lead to 2:0 in the 22nd minute. The hosts then had the game under control until Waltteri Merelä (28) scored the tying goal in the power play. This reversed the momentum: Swedish defender Hardy Häman Aktell put the SCB 3:2 ahead with two goals - the second of which he scored five seconds before the second break. Dario Allensbach (43) saved the Langnau team in overtime. Nevertheless, the Tigers lost for the fourth time in a row.

ZSC also wins fourth derby

The ZSC Lions also won their fourth Zurich derby against Kloten in the current championship - their fifth win in a row against their cantonal rivals. ZSC squandered a 2-0 lead - Mischa Ramel equalized for Kloten in the 57th minute to make it 2-2, after his team had managed just one goal in the first three duels against ZSC this season. However, Jesper Frödén put the Lions back in front one minute before the end, whereupon the in-form Sven Andrighetto made everything clear with his second goal of the game five seconds before the end.

Lugano thanks to a strong first and last period

Lugano had only conceded one goal in its previous three home games against the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers - the Bianconeri won the last two by a clean sheet. Now the visitors scored three goals in the middle third, which is why the score was 3:3 after 40 minutes. Mika Henauer and Tyler Moy scored the 1:3 and 2:3 goals within 36 seconds of each other in the 22nd minute. Moy also scored to make it 3:3 (37'). However, Lugano did not let this discourage them and took the lead again in the 55th minute through Calvin Thürkauf. Like Brendan Perlini, the South Ticino captain made it 2:0 (11') in the power play, after Lugano had previously gone six games in a row without scoring in overtime. The final score was 7:3 - the last two goals were scored by Zach Sanford (59th) and Einar Emanuelsson (60th) into the empty net.

Zug comes under the wheels at the leader

The honeymoon for EV Zug and its new coach Benoît Groulx has come to an end. After two hard-fought victories against Kloten and Langnau, they fell back into the old waters in Davos, which had led to ten consecutive defeats across all competitions after the turn of the year. Zug lost 1:4, with Tino Kessler (after 37 seconds and in the 45th minute) and Brendan Lemieux (6th/42nd) each scoring twice to give them a decisive 4:0 lead. For once, Leonardo Genoni was not a sure thing either, the MVP of the last World Championship only stopping 22 of 26 shots.

Biel with a must-win

With the appointment of coach Christian Dubé as successor to the sacked Martin Filander, confidence returned to Biel that they could still reach the play-in games. A home win against bottom-of-the-table Ajoie was a must - even though the Jura side had won four of their previous five games. The Seelanders fulfilled this obligation with a 6:3 victory. The visitors did manage to score twice. However, just 112 seconds after Christophe Cavalleri made it 2:3 (45'), 16-year-old Jonah Neuenschwander put Biel back in front by two goals with his fourth goal of the season, after which he also set up Johnny Kneubuehler's 5:2 (53').
