Goggia wins super-G and small globe, Suter finishes second

With a lead of 63 points over her only remaining rival Alice Robinson, a 6th place at the season finale in Norway would certainly have been enough for Goggia to win the super-G for the first time. As usual, however, the 33-year-old didn't play tactics but went on the attack. With a perfect run, she distanced the competition by 32 hundredths and more and won for the 29th time in the World Cup and for the tenth time in the super-G.

This means that the second small crystal globe in the speed disciplines also goes to Italy. Laura Pirovano secured victory in the downhill discipline on Saturday. Goggia followed in the footsteps of Lara Gut-Behrami. The injured Ticino native secured the small globe in the super-G in the past three winters.

Goggia only had to worry about victory once - when Corinne Suter with bib number 19 was on course for victory for a long time. The 31-year-old from Schwyz was clearly faster at the top than the Italian, but lost a decisive amount of time in the final section and missed out on her third super-G victory. However, Suter confirmed her good form at the end of the winter after a difficult start to the season due to injury.

The podium was completed by the German Kira Weidle-Winkelmann. It was her second podium finish in 24 hours after finishing third in the downhill on Saturday.

Emma Aicher missed out on the podium by a tiny hundredth of a second. However, she collected valuable points in the battle for the big crystal globe. With two races to go, the 22-year-old all-rounder is still 45 points behind Mikaela Shiffrin, who did not finish higher than 22nd and did not score any points.

Malorie Blanc, the second Swiss woman to qualify for the season finale, also put in a good performance. She finished in 9th place, 1.45 seconds behind the winner.

Ilka Stuhec took part in her last race in the World Cup. The two-time downhill world champion from Slovenia drew a line under her career at the age of 35 after 252 races at the highest level.
