Gut-Behrami with best time - advantage Brignone in the bullet fight

Two days after her magnificent triumph in the super-G and winning the discipline World Cup, Lara Gut-Behrami can hope for her first victory of the season in the giant slalom at the last opportunity. She leads the intermediate rankings by 45 hundredths ahead of Federica Brignone. The Ticino native created the difference in the second part of the course, where she was over a second faster than the Italian. The Olympic champion Sara Hector from Sweden in third place was 68 hundredths slower than the Swiss skier.

There is a large time gap behind the top three. Federica Brignone's compatriot Sofia Goggia was one and a half seconds behind Lara Gut-Behrami in 4th place. 7th-placed Camille Rast, who is still feeling the effects of her hip injury four weeks after her fall in the slalom in Sestriere, lost two and a half seconds on the best time. The third Swiss participant, Wendy Holdener, finished two positions behind the Valais skier.

In the duel for victory in the discipline rankings, Federica Brignone has all the advantages on her side - although she is currently still 20 points behind the leader Alice Robinson. The New Zealander, who could be the first Alpine skier to win a crystal globe for her country, was eliminated after a completely unsuccessful run right from the start. Federica Brignone's 13th place is now enough to secure the "giant" globe for a second time in five years.
