HCD with sweep in playoff semi-final

No Tambellini, no problem: Even without its top scorer Adam Tambellini, who had scored six (!) times in the last two games due to neck pain, HC Davos came away with its fourth win. After the two defeats (1:5 and 0:4), EV Zug at least kept up better. Nevertheless, Dan Tangnes' impressive time as coach in Switzerland came to an end with a clear 0:4 in the quarter-final series - danced out by his former apprentice Josh Holden.

The HCD were also convincing in terms of play this time, the only thing they could be criticized for was their lack of chances. The record champions needed a double overtime to make it 4:2 in the 54th minute with a double strike by Matej Stransky and Simon Ryfors.

For the first time in this series, Zug was not trailing after two periods. However, the 1:1 at the second break flattered the Central Swiss. Although they managed to make a few pinpricks from time to time, they had their goalie Leonardo Genoni to thank first and foremost. The seven-time Swiss champion showed his dreaded playoff top form for the first time, with the post making one save against Marc Wieser (27'). In the final third, with the score at 2:2, HCD defender Michael Fora also hit the side of the net.

In the end, however, even a strong Genoni and some competitive luck were of no use to a Zug team that had been weakened by a lack of substitutes and never looked settled in these playoffs. Davos, on the other hand, can count on this form in their first semi-finals in three years.
