FC St. Gallen have found a replacement for Isaac Schmidt, who has moved to England. The eastern Swiss club has signed French defender Hugo Vandermersch.
The 25-year-old Vandermersch joins St. Gallen from French second division club Caen. After five seasons and 105 appearances in Ligue 2, the Frenchman was loaned out to SV Elversberg in the 2nd Bundesliga last season, where he made 26 appearances.
Vandermersch signed a contract with FC St. Gallen that runs until the summer of 2028.
