Bad news for Lausanne-Sport and the Swiss national team: Alvyn Sanchez tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the 1-1 draw in Northern Ireland on Friday and will have to take several months off.

This was announced by the Vaud club after extensive examinations. Sanchez is one of the biggest talents in Swiss football. The 22-year-old attacking player has scored twelve goals and provided four assists in 28 Super League games this season. He has attracted the interest of various teams abroad and is currently valued at 14 million euros.

As a reward for his strong performances, Sanchez was called up for the national team for the first time. He came on as a 68th-minute substitute in Belfast but twisted his ankle in injury time. Now he needs a lot of patience.

Lausanne-Sport are 7th in the table and in the thick of the battle for a place in the Master's Round (Top 6). They are two points behind sixth-placed FC Zurich.
