Amriswil makes it through to the last 16 of the CEV Cup despite a defeat in the second leg against Red Star Belgrade. Lausanne and Schönenwerd are eliminated.
After the 3:0 win in Belgrade, things got tense again in Amriswil. The Thurgau side recklessly gave away the first game after already leading by eight points. The team from Eastern Switzerland finally pulled themselves together and won the decisive fourth set by a clear 25:16. Amriswil will face Omonia Nicosia from Cyprus in the quarter-finals.
For the Swiss champions from Schönenwerd and the men from Lausanne UC, the season in the second-highest European competition is over. The team from Solothurn also lost the second leg against the French team from Tours, while the team from Vaud also lost the second match against the Belgian representative from Apeldoorn after the first leg.
