Swiss head coach Roger Bader's team lost 6-0 to Switzerland at the World Championships in Denmark.

In the vote conducted by the sports journalists' association Sports Media Austria (SMA), the World Championship quarter-finalists came out on top with 755 points ahead of the synchronized swimmers and world champions Anna-Maria and Eirini-Marina Alexandri (694) and the male ski jumpers (550).

It is only the second time that an award of this kind has been presented for ice hockey in Austria; long-time NHL star Thomas Vanek was voted Sportsman of the Year in 2007.
