Lugano had Renato Steffen to thank for their 2:1 home win against Lausanne-Sport. The 34-year-old scored with his head in the 36th minute and set up Daniel Dos Santos' 2-0 after an hour. The Vaud side reduced the deficit in the 80th minute through Florent Mollet.

FC Basel suffered their fifth defeat in their seventh game under Stephan Lichtsteiner in all competitions with a 4-2 defeat in Lucerne. Thanks to goals from Bénie Traoré from the penalty spot and Julien Duranville, FCB first managed to turn the game around to 2-1 before the Swiss side struck three times. Oscar Kabwit scored in the 77th minute, set up Lars Villiger's 3:2 goal five minutes later and finished the scoring with his second goal in the 89th minute. The last two goals were the result of blatant defensive errors by Basel.

With their third win in a row, each time scoring four goals of their own, Luzern moved to within three points of sixth-placed YB. The Bernese team remained without a win away from home for the seventh time in a row. They lost 3-1 at FC Sion, with Rilind Nivokazi scoring all three goals for the Valais side, who are now four points ahead of YB.

FC Thun, whose game in Winterthur was postponed to Wednesday due to the partly icy pitch, still have an eleven-point lead at the top of the table after first-placed St. Gallen drew 1-1 at Servette on Saturday. The 293rd Zurich derby played on the same day was won 2-1 by FC Zurich against GC.
