Mikaela Shiffrin sets the fastest time in the first run of the slalom at the World Cup final in Sun Valley. In the shadow of the American, the battle for victory in the discipline rankings remains exciting.

Mikaela Shiffrin leads the intermediate classification by 59 hundredths ahead of Germany's Lean Dürr. Wendy Holdener in third place lost a good second to the American. The racer from Schwyz is one of a quartet that can still hope to win the small crystal globe. However, with a 96-point deficit to the leader, the young Croatian Zrinka Ljutic, her chances are now only theoretical.

The best of the four racers involved in the battle for the globe is Katharina Liensberger, who is in 4th place directly ahead of Mélanie Meillard. The Austrian is 51 points behind Zrinka Ljutic. For her part, the Croatian and her first pursuer Camille Rast, who would have to make up 41 points, are in 12th and 14th place, around two seconds behind Mikaela Shiffrin.

If the ranking after the first run were the final ranking, Zrinka Ljutic would win the small crystal globe. Katharina Liensberger, Camille Rast, Mikaela Shiffrin and Wendy Holdener would follow in the other places.
