After the defeat against Bochum and the draw against Union Berlin, FC Bayern returned to success in the league. The Munich side beat St. Pauli 3:2 to keep Leverkusen at bay.
At half-time, it looked as if the visitors from Hamburg could also give the title favorites a leg up. Thanks to a goal from Elias Saad, the score was 1-1, but Leroy Sané had something against conceding points against a clear underdog for the third time in a row. His goals in the 53rd and 71st minutes made him the match-winner.
Bayern Munich thus remain six points ahead of Bayer Leverkusen, who beat Bochum 3-1 on Friday. There are still seven match days to go in the Bundesliga.
Although coach Gerardo Seoane's team had to play against RB Leipzig with their third goalkeeper and without striker Tim Kleindienst, they still won 1:0. Gladbach thus overtook Leipzig in the table and now occupy 5th place.
The only scorer was Frenchman Alassane Pléa, who had shone in the previous round with three goals and an assist in the 4-2 win over Werder Bremen. Nico Elvedi, who was not in the Swiss national team squad recently, played in defense.
Cédric Zesiger, who unlike Elvedi had played in the international matches in March, also played the full distance in Augsburg's away game in Sinsheim. The defender only just missed out on the Bundesliga record of nine consecutive games without conceding a goal. In the 71st minute, Hoffenheim's Andrej Kramaric converted a controversial handball penalty to equalize the score at 1:1. The visitors from Bavaria could console themselves with the fact that they remained unbeaten for the eleventh time in a row.
