For this reason, the sixth-placed team in the Bundesliga has extended its contract with the Dane ahead of schedule by one year until the summer of 2027.
"Bo Henriksen and Mainz 05 came together last year in a very difficult sporting situation for the club. He mastered this together with the team with courageous football and bravura," the club praised the coach in a communiqué.
The 49-year-old Henriksen took over Mainz in February of last year, when they were second last in the Bundesliga and in an almost hopeless situation. After relegation, Mainz 05 is now one of the surprise teams and is playing for a ticket to the European places.
