Pat Burgener and Isabelle Lötscher were unable to make their mark at the premiere of the new, highly remunerated Snow League launched by Shaun White for the best halfpipe snowboarders and free skiers.
The invited Swiss duo both failed to qualify at Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen.
Burgener finished 4th in his group of five and Lötscher came last in her group of four. The decisions for the victories were not made until Saturday night.
The first edition of the Snow League comprises four stages and ends in Laax in March 2026. It will continue in early December at the Secret Garden Resort in Zhangjiakou, China, where the 2022 Olympic Games were held. From then on, freeskiers will also be part of the action. The prize money amounts to a generous 1.6 million dollars.
