Camille Rast puts in a strong performance in the first run of the giant slalom in Spindleruv Mlyn. The skier from Valais is in 2nd intermediate place after the best 30 skiers.
Only Sara Hector skied faster than Rast in the Czech Republic - with a lead of two hundredths of a second, she came top of the intermediate rankings. The discipline leader Julia Scheib is currently in 3rd place, 0.26 seconds behind Hector. Mikaela Shiffrin is in fourth place, 0.43 seconds behind 1st place.
This means that the starting position for the second run is almost identical to that of the giant slalom at Kronplatz four days ago. There too, Hector was ahead of Rast and Scheib - but with a slightly bigger lead. In the end, Scheib secured victory ahead of Rast, while Hector finished in 3rd place ahead of Shiffrin.
From 1.30 pm, the second run will show who will prevail in Spindleruv Mlyn. Vanessa Kasper, a second Swiss racer, is currently in 9th place in the intermediate rankings. Wendy Holdener will probably also qualify for the second run in 17th place after 30 racers.
